I'm a new first-time Volvo owner (2004 S60), and unfortunately the owners before me did not take real good care of the interior. I don't think the leather has ever been cleaned real well. I wouldn't say it's damaged, really.. it's just dirty from years without any cleaner/protectant. What would you recommend for this situation?

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the responses.

I did do some searching, and read several threads relating to cleaning leather. I found everyone's recommended leather cleaning products. Which is helpful. However what I would like to know is if if there is any special procedure or products for cleaning leather that hasn't been cleaned in years, and has ground-in dirt. Not just maintenance cleaning - for example, I want to use a carpet cleaner, not just a vacuum.

I don't have much experience with this, so if what I'm asking is ridiculous let me know.

Don't use carpet cleaner unless you want to take the chance and ruin the leather. Just beacuse it hasn't been cleaned in awhile doesn't mean to use harsh chemicals/cleaners. Go to the suggested companies web sites and read the directions for dirtier leather.
