Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to remove the radio from a 740. Radio is either a CR702 or 705. Also if I replace the radio with a cd radio will the seperate volvo graphic equalizer still work.

Many thanks
Simon

Remove the radio knobs and then you should see a small 'tab' of metal (one behind each knob). Each tab has a hole in it, insert a small screwdriver (or pick, etc...) into the hole and pull the tab towards the center of the radio while pulling forward on the radio.

The tabs on the radio on my 740 are tapered which would let you pull it out with brute force (as mentioned earlier), while the tabs on my Wifes 940 (newer) are squared, which means no amount of force was going to pull out that radio.

Good Luck, and PLEASE let us know how you made out.

Thanks for the quick reply but i couldn't see the tabs of metal. I should have pointed out i have an '89 740 GLE and the stereo is the CR-702, if that helps.

On either side of the front of the CR-702 there are what looks like a slot cover about an inch long & 3/8 wide. All you do is push these in as far as you can, and let them spring back out, when they spring out, they become little handles to pull the radio out.

Hope this helps.

I managed to get the thing out (with much force!) and have now got my CD player wired in a treat! Thanks for all the pointers.
