Hey everyone,

The reason I did not post on the newbie forum is I am not sure if my posts would be seen by other than car newbies. I know my cars, but am a Volvo newbie. Two moths ago, an SUV ran me off the road and fleed. I had a modified 1997 Lexus ES300- totalled now. http://www.cardomain.com/id/lextildeath if you care to see. My baby. I swore to only buy Lexus's until I die, but I found a used C70 4 speed auto for a dam good price and would like to know how good it is vs my Lex. I am 21 and in college. I like to race and have a semi sleeper at the same time. Nothing too flashy. I like luxury. My Lex was all of this. I test drove the C70 and it was gorgeous. What I did not like was the extreme turbo lag. I am used to instant power from my NA V6. I heard the turbo lag was bad but is there a way to fix it? Also, when I went to turn back into the parking spot after the test drive, it did not go where I wanted it to go. I ended up taking up two spaces. I heard that the steering ratio is weird like that- would it affect high speed handling? How does it handle? Body roll? I was not able to take any serious turns where I was during the test drive. My Lex when stock had body roll too as it was a luxury car but I put stiff struts and springs and bigger rims and tires on and it was amazing. Does this C70 have potential to be amazing?

Thanks in advance,

Anthony.

Yes it has the potential to be amazing.
They handle great and have a bunch of mods that can be done to them.

Thanks for the reassurance, Tech.

Any knowledge as far as how to substancially lessen turbo lag? It is a big T5 turbo on a small 2.3 liter 20 valve I5. I was thinking intercooler, down pipe, chip, turbo exhaust, intake. I know those would all give it more power and the intercooler will help keep the extra boost under control, but would it all decrease turbo lag? Would a better torque converter help? Maybe it would just be a bigger power increase and compensate for the lag in the end? I don't know. And I know nothing about blow off valves. Would that help? Maybe a valve body upgrade?

Also, can anything be done about the steering ratio? Might I just get used to it?

Hopefully the car is not sold by the time I find out all of this info.

Thanks,

Anthony.

You will have to live with the steering problem they are all like that.
The parts might help the turbo lag some.Check in the General Volvo section I put a bunch of links in a post there which should help you find more parts for the car.
You can also call some of the company's they will be able to answer your quiestions with the aftermarket parts.
