I think I need an new heater core, and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on what brands to buy and what to stay away from?

Good luck they are a pain in the A** to get to and replace.
I would try to stick with OEM or very similiar.
I have bought aftermarket for many cars and almost always had problems.
