Hi all,

My C70 2.4T has started making a very annoying rattle from the engine. It only does it during hardish acceleration or under load like when towing or in a high gear when the engine revs are maybe a bit to low. It also does it worse when accelerating up hills and there a fair few of those where I live. Apart from that the car is running very nicely but it does sound a bit like a tractor. I thought it maybe the tappets or followers.

Does any one have any ideas or have you had this as well?

Cheers

Hi,

I normally use Shell standard unleaded fuel which I think is 98 ron? They do sell optimax which is a higher octane. I was told to always use this in my Subaru Impreza but since buying the Volvo I have gone back to standard fuel as the C70 is no were near the level of performance the Impreza was.

Thanks and look forward to your thoughs.

Just for the heck of it try a higher octane fuel during next fill up and see if it goes away or gets better.

Most will run good on lower octane fuel but some are picky and will need the higher octane.

See if you can get ahold of an oil guage and drive it with it hooked up and see if the pressure drops at all while you are driving.
