Hi all !

I owned a 2000 C70 2.4Turbo convertible, but since 1 month, when i start my engine (cold or hot whatever !) it starts but stops immediately after . i have to start it 2 or 3 times before having it started !! :( .

This problem is completely variable, i can start normaly the car during couple of days, and at one moment, it begins faking !!

can somebody who knows this problem help me?

Thanks for your answers

I would look at the fuel pressure first.
Then look at the throttle body next.
Thne look at the mass flow sensor.

To check the fuel pressure you will have to buy a fuel pressure guage.
Cleaning the throttle body can be done at home but takes a while.
Sorry I don't have the part #'s there is many different one depending on different things.

Thank you again ! i'll ask another may be stupid question

Can i have a picture of this throttle body, in order to avoid mistakes? thanks

I picture or an approximative location of this throttle in the engine compartment can be good too!

I don't have a picture but will explain.
Open the hood and look at the front of the engine.
The throttle body is located under the intake manifold.
There is a plastic hose running from the intercooler to the throttle body.
Follow the big black plastic hose from the radiator area to under the intake manifold.Where it connects to the manifold is the throttle body.
The clamp that holds it on you will need a 7mm socket to get it loose.
There is 4 screws holding the throttle body to the intake manifold.
You may also have to remove the support bracket from the back of the starter to allow you to get the wiring out.
Follow the wiring from the throttle body down and you will see it go behind the starter bracket. That is along as no one has had it apart and left the wiring out.

No the intake manifold is the aluminum peice mounted on the front of the engine. The oil dipstick tube is bolted to the intake manifold.

AHHH ok !! it can be this problem !!
At volvo they had found the following error code: IMM-321 = INITIALIZING SIGNAL FROM MODULE (area 36). But they want me to change the starting engine control box (ref: 8601360 : 900$ !! )

So how can i told them to check around the antenna ring problem?

and when you say : "it sits around the ignition key....", is it on the key or in the car, near the steering wheel ?

Thank you for your answer !

I am hopefully picking up a 98 coupe tomorrow. Does the 1998 C70 Coupe have this special coded key or is it just newer models? I test drove the car but the key was in the ignition the whole time and I did not see it. I hope it is just a normal metal key so I will not have to deal with this problem. If it is a wacky coded key, is this problem very common? Any preventative stuff I can do?

Thanks,

Anthony.

No worries they didn't start it till 1999.
The 98 has an immoblizer but it is very different.

You just made my day, Tech.

Awesome!

I am slowly learning stuff about this car. Hopefully as an owner, I can contribute even more information to this site and its subscribers.

Thanks again,

Anthony.
