Recently my 850 hasn't been shifting up into any higher gears. I think the winter/econ sport control might be the problem, I've tried switching it back and forth and it would return to normal. However the last day or two the problem seemed to get worse and the car wouldn't change at all.

I tried driving the car in 3 or L and now the car changes gear in Drive, but the arrow light is blinking now... what should i do?

pnp switch. try rowing the shifter back and forth. like 20-30 times. that usually gets the crud off the connections. it is only a stop gap. the switch is on its way out. this should give some more time until either you rebuild the switch or get a new one.

I agree with Harry. The Sport/Econ mode switch is rarely the problem. It's just a dumb-contact point anyway.

When the arrow light is blinking, did you check for codes? So what did it say?

i haven;t had time to check for codes yet, i've been working nonstop lately... so my problem is related to the Pnp switch overhaul topic?

that usually is the answer. about 95% of the time. easier to do the simple thing before anybody starts offering help in what to rip apart first.

did you try the rowing bit? try fcpgroton.com if you don't want to do the rowing back and forth trick.

Or you can get Swedeseed to rebuild your PNP switch for you.
