Hi. I'm 2 days away from getting a 2003 XC90
It looks and goes well, but the interior is looking worn and I need a few bits apieces. Do I just go to the local Volvo dealer and pay them $10,000 per bit, or are there other options around?

Hi
Glad to know you have finally located an XC90. What one did you end up buying. I had intended to let you know about a white one in the southern highlands that sounded OK.

Getting one that suited your requirements was not an easy task.

As it would be out of warranty a tip with servicing - if taking to a Volvo dealer - find out what is to be replaced under a service - at times some things can be deleted from replacement - such as wiper blades (which cost around $100) and filters. Brake pads are another item - non genuine (made in the same factory) are around half the price of those branded Volvo.

If you search around, it is not too hard to find a good service centre that will source good non genuine parts - such as filters, brake pads etc.

What parts are you wanting??

A couple of suggestions:
If you have a good contact with a smash repairer - they get a book known as Parts Locater -it is a trade publication. It lists parts for most vehicles at wreckers, or dismantlers as some call them throughout Australia. Some can be contacted by e-mail, other you may have to phone.
Another way is to "Google" spare parts for Volvo XC90.
I have used both methods to source parts for previous Volvos that I have owned.

Currently we have a 2006 2.5T XC90 and a 2008 S40LE and are happy with both vehicles.

When new the XC90 comes with 2 identical keys/fobs.

Did your XC90 comes from the southern highlands - I recall seeing a 2003 model advertised on the web and it sounded a good buy - however you were looking for a later model with fewer kilos.

Did you not get 2 keys with the one you have purchased?

If you are pricing from Volvo dealers in Sydney - I suggest that you get prices from the 3 major ones, Trivett, Peter Warren and Alto. I follow this process and find that the prices can vary enough to warrant travelling to get items.

e-bay is another place that odd things turn up for XC 90's - just name the search "volvo" and then "parts and accesories"
