I am working on my girlfriends 92 240 wagon. I told her I would fix the speakers. I replaced the front door speakers with 4" and was hoping that would solve the problem.
For a while, even before the speaker change, the front right would work and the front left would go in and out.
The new speakers didn't solve the problem. I thought I would just run a wire from the head unit directly to the speaker but that has turned out to be more difficult than I had bargained for.
It is a 'new' head unit, after market but fairly old, and I am not sure the problem is not in the connection with the head unity but I don't 'think' it is.
If any one has any ideas or tips I would much appreciate it.

what if you wiggle the wire bundle coming from the car and into the door when the door is open? does it look sliced? what is the condition of the wires? have you traced the wires? what are the connections like? solid? loose? dirty ..?

i had the same problem with mine. it ended up just being the fade. apparently the left speaker and right speaker were set up as front and back instead of left and right. give it a try it might be the same problem
