My 98 v70 xc drive shaft center bearing is gone, almost literally. I rec'd a price from my local dealer to replace the whole shaft assembly (parts only) at $1100. They tell me the center bearing can't be replaced by itself. Is this true? I don't think they're lying, but I hope there's a work-around for a $30 bearing.

Ebay has the 98 Volvo V70 XC driveshaft center support with bearing for about $170.00

ebay is a great option for an entire unit. I was hoping for an "insider's" shortcut to replacing just the center bearing. Thanks for responding, though!

I believe we have a "failure to communicate" here. What I'm saying is Ebay does sell just the center support and bearing (rubber and bearing). I'm not talking about buying the complete driveshaft. Be careful and order the correct one using your VIN. 2 styles available depending on your VIN. $170.00 on Ebay.

Also, You Tube has a good video showing the replacement of just the center support (rubber) and bearing.

Be sure to mark driveshaft to flange location for correct vibration free reinstallation.
