Hi, all. I'm not entirely new here but I can't recall which of the wife's email addresses I'm registered with (the wagon is technically her's, though I drive it more than she does).

Anyway... I didn't replace a worn-out t-belt tensioner soon enough and now I have to deal with the expected result. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) I've decided my best bet is a complete salvage head... but here's where my confusion lies: the car is a 1995 960. However, there is "93" stamped on the valve cover, leading me to think that it's not the original head or maybe not the original engine. From what I can tell, it seems the 1992-94 cylinder heads interchange with each other, and '95 thru '97 are a totally separate interchange.

Is this correct? And how can I tell which I've got?

Any assistance or advice in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Does no one know anything about the interchangeability of these 24valve heads??

get a picture of it up, because i think the 960 in 1992-94 might have used the older engine type of the kind.

Hi!

All 6 cylinder heads are interchangable. If you have a 1995 or newer 960 there are two different cylinder heads 2.5L and 3.0L (B6254 and B6304). 94 and older there only exists B6304. The cylinder head of B6254 have slightly lower lift of the camshafts and you probably dont want that (not even if you have a B6254. There is a marking on the cylinder head (think its in the exhaust side) that say 3.0L or 2.5L. Make sure that the oil hydraulic lifters are OK before using the new cylinder head. Get the original sealing compound from Volvo, don't use reglar silicone.
