I have a 2008 XC 90 without a 3rd row seat. Does anyone know if I can have one added now and if so what would be the best place (dealer, body shop, etc) to have this done?

I had asked a similar question on another firum and was told to buy a 7 seater if I wanted a 7 seater, becasue even if you put in the 2 extra seats there will not be curtain air bags or seat belt pre-tensioners in the back as there would be in a factory 7 seater...

I note that you are in Marrickville and I am also in Australia - Newcastle - and noted in another post that you were wanting to purchase an XC90 - between $30K and $35K with as low klms as possible.
Two years ago I purchased a 2006 XC90 - I had to look around for nearly 6 months before finding the one I wanted - right colour, right price and right klms.
It is a 7 seater and the dealership advised me that you buy either 5 seater or 7 seater - whilst an extra seat could be fitted it would be an expensive exercise and not have the necessary safety features of a factory fit, nor the resale value.
What model are you wanting - 5 or 7 seater and how many kms max.
I am retired and spend a fair bit of time on the web and at times come upon "good buys".
This month I have located a V70 for a niece and an S40 MY08 for my wife.

Best deal so far is $40K for an 06 with 35,000kms. It's silver though!

I have a 7 passenger and I don't use the last row. I don't believe an average size adult can fit in the back row. You also use a lot of space when seats are up and also the addional compartment under the truck is lost because the seats get stored there. I don't have any children but usually transport a lot of people. I would really assess your situation and how many times you would use the third row
