Anyway, I found it on a souped-up 854 T5R ...
According to the owner when asked of his baby, the V could do some wheelspin on the third gear.

Hehehe... I had to ask him just to clarify again, errr, wheelspin on THIRD (???) gear....?

"You kidding?" I asked.
"Just a little show-off lah." He replied with a grin right up behind the ears.

God.

My stang can do that but that is rear wheel drive and 250HP!!!!!

Front wheel drive is a little easier.

Was it a Manual or Auto?

I think it's a manual. Didn't get the chance to peek into his 854T5R though. Well should have!

You mean your Mustang is 250hps? Whoah... You guys are power monsters! :haha:

In any case, how much power would an 854T5R pack, eh?

Fear the Moose!!!!!

Yes, it is a spoof on the Ferrari theme. (There is also a Lamborghini spoof too)

I sport them on my car (They are magnetic. I move them around, sometimes take them off too, but I usually leave them on.. Lots of comments, especially from other Volvo heads.

I had an 1996 850T5R wagon (manual shift), it was an ex unmarked police car.

It had no traction control or any other gadgets. The guy I got if from had spent a lot of ££££ on performance mod's, all mechanical, not fancy body kits. When I collected it, he passed me a piece of paper and said, "you might want this, you should find it interesting". Turned out to be a dyno test read out that peaked at 321 BHP.

I nearly wet my pants.
Couldn't stop grinning the whole drive home.

That car could out-run almost anything, only prob' was you sat still with tyres smoking if you put too much power on when pulling away.

Took me a good few weeks to learn how to handle all those ponys.

And yes, wheel spin in 3rd it totally acheivable, but better dropping to 2nd gear at 35 - 40 MPH that way you could get smoke from the tyres while you accelerated away from a boy racer that was tail gating you for the last mile and had just started to over take you.

My dad has now owned this car for the last two years, but I might get it back as he's just bought a Jag XJR.

He said I could have it for £1000. But it needs new CV joints and lambda sensor + interior is a bit rough.

Do you think I should go for it, or just live with the happy memories.

Stu.

Not too sure, I love the 240's charactor, plus it has more presence than the 850.
But the performance of the 850T5R.........Mmmmmmmmmmmm.

How difficult would it be to install the T5R lump into the 240.

Anyone heard of this being done?

A 321BHP 240 wagon would be pretty neat.

You'll need to do A LOT of work, and MUCH, MUCH, MUCH trouble-shooting later to get it really done. Not to forget the kind of $$$$$ that'll be flowing like water...

The 850 is a FWD-car, while the 240 is a RWD...
That should be enough to scare most other mechanics.
