Hello all,

This is my first post to any type of Forum.. I purchased a 2007 Volvo Xc90 4.4L V8 and I am proud to say that it is the best looking & driving SUV on the road. It took me a long time to make the purchase, but I am happy that I did. My only beef are the little rattles and squeaks the center console makes along with other doors and the dash.. wonder if anyone else had these problems or am I the only one?

Well, I am contemplating an extended warranty through Volvo that would cover my Xc90 for 84 months (from in-service date), or 100K. This all adds up to a price tag of $2400.00 which I hear is a pretty good price. But like everyone else I was wondering if anyone would recommend another warranty they have or even some advice on why I shouldn't by the warranty at all.

This is my first European automobile and I plan to keep it for at least 10 years. Please give me your advice asap, I only have till May 1st to purchase the warranty at this price, other wise due to mileage and time, it goes up 800.00.

Currently my Volvo Xc90 has 29K. So far so good...

Let me know...!!!

I agree. The XC90 is the best looking SUV on the road. My console squeaked, once found can be hit with a little silicone spray and silenced. I'm not an expert at warranties, but can give you my opinion based on my personal research. The cost is fair, but not really a great bargain considering you have a 50K warranty and will only be gaining 50K. You can purchase the same coverage for the same price when you turn 50K. Deductibles can even lower the cost a few more dollars and lessen your wager on future repairs. To purchase or not has to be based on a personal choice rather than economics. The "gamble" is the "unknown" that drives logic out the window. I hit 50K with my XC90 and wrangled with the same decision. I chose to keep the money in my pocket and use some (or all) of it when I needed a repair. I gambled and so far, I'm winning. I considered transferability and the added value (if any)if I trade in the future. Your comment about keeping it for 10 years, makes that a mute point. The final choice is all yours, but don't feel pressured to decide now, you can always purchase a warranty later.

Disclaimer: If you ever need a tranny or other major component, I respectively refuse to be held responsible for voicing my opinion. I have not experienced any squeaks on my 2007 XC90, but I did on my older model 2006, could just be a bad fit job on the line during that day, sven may have been a bit tired, maybe on a friday ;-)

As for the best looking SUV on the road, I could agree more!

Check out what you can do to a 2007 XC90 - Executive addition (i.e. fully loaded) when you are bored with so many on the road and are looking for a different look.

I don't know where you guys are getting these $2500 bargains. I'm approaching 50K miles on my 2006 2.5T, and my dealer quotes me $4400 for the 100K extended warranty (bumper-to bumper Volvo VIP warranty, with $100 deductible). I live in the Washington DC area. Is that a 3rd party warranty you are talking about? I'm very suspicious about those in general.

Airsoul,

I got a really great deal through Volvo Care, I believe the $4400 quote you receive was the same quote I got from Easy Care. I also noticed that you had 50k on your car now. The warranty I bought was also a 100k time line, but I opted for the $200 deductible and my XC90 was under the 30month 30K miles milestone. I still wonder if I should have bought the warranty but you can never forecast the future, seems like the car is pretty durable.

Hope you get what your looking for, but I would ask for a quote from Volvo care and see what happens goodluck and thanks for the reply.
