how do I replace the headlight on a 2002 s40? do I need to replace the whole headlight assembly? or is it just the bulb taht needs to be replaced? if it's just the bulb how do I remove it?

If you look at the back of the headlight assembly under the hood you will see 2 rubber caps.Remove the one for the low beam.You can turn the key on and look at the other headlight to figure out which is the low beam.
Then you will have to unplug the bulb(Be very careful and work slow the headlight assembly tends to break when you pull to hard) Then there is a metal tab that locks the bulb in there.Unhook the metal clip.Remove the bulb and replace.(Caution do not touch the glass part of the bulb.The oil from your skin will make the bulb burn up when you turn it on) If you accidently touch it use some alcohol to clean it before installing it. |
