Check the thermostat. Perform a compression check. Sounds like you've got a blown head gasket (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

KiaKid,

Is there a Lambda light (Check Engine Light, Malfunction Indicator Light)? If yes, read the codes first.

Is your fan kicking in at the right temperature? You may want to also check your ECT sensor - its located just underneath the thermostat cover. You cant miss it, its the only thing with cables jutting out from the back. Remove the thermostat (i usually use the "2-spanner cross technique" to achieve this, and inspect the sensor. Try cleaning the brass tip a little with a wire brush, especially if its covered with rust etc. Also inspect the cables to see if nothing is severed.

So kiakid2007
I have the same thing going on.. and its losing fluid a bit everyday.. I think mine is a head gasket, but its getting back and forth to work right now.. just gets hot if I push on it and make the turbo work..

Just wondering what yours ended up being?

- note fan kicks in at what seems the right time and fluid is real small leak from back of engine some place above and to the right of the turbo.. cant quite tell, do you all agree that its probably the head gasket or is there something else up in there that could be leaking.. (<smile> looking for hope that its not a HG and I can fix it myself)

Please check 2 things:-

1) How long ago have you had your thermostat checked? Boil some hot water and drop the thermostat in it, and see if it 'opens'.
2) At the back of the engine block is a small 2-inch rubber hose, the diametric size of your finger. No bigger than that. To get it, trace the coolant line form the expansion tank, down to the rubber hose, and to the metal pipe behind the engine block, and you will find it. This is FAMOUS for being ignored, given the location. See if you have traces or residues of white stuff (dried coolant) at the hose. If it look bad, change it anyway.

no check engine light on and brand new thermostat and ect sensor its a little better but still pushing coolant out of the bottle. its gotta be exhaust in the cooling system building up pressure and forcing it out of the bottle

A compression check will tell you.

If the cooling system is sealed, clear of restrictions or air pockets and functioning properly, then you know the problem.

If you ask ME, i'm not going to worry too much about it. But then again, i've been accused of letting things to go really bad (like really bad) before i lift a finger about it.

And in my defence, if its a major item, let it die totally, before you put the big $$$$ into it.
