Thanks for the invite!

I just bought a 1998 S 90 and the PO did not have a manual or remote for the keyless entry. I have seen them on eBay and was wondering if there was a way of programming the device without a Volvo dealer $80.00 + fee.

Also, the timing belt was changed at 90 K according to the Volvo "sticker"> Is another new one a good idea @ 140K? The car runs very smooth, burns clean, and is a pleasure to drive.


Any help would be appreciated

Yes you can program the remote without the dealer.

I would change the belt to be safe.
Note:To be safe also replace the Hydrolic tensioner and both idler pulleys to save you alot of headaches.

They should be changed at the second service.

To program the remote do a search on this forum.If you can't find it in the S90/960 forum you can also look in the 850 forum.
The same method is used to program the remotes.
