in the fcpgroton kit theres another breather hose on the longest hose.
what is this hose for?
(IMG:http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g55/wizzy214/dcp_2494.jpg)
(IMG:http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g55/wizzy214/dcp_2493.jpg)

I'm not sure where/what I'm looking at in your last photo but I believe it's the PTC ~ which is after the airbox down by the turbo.

In your photo above, posted previously, of the FCP Groton replacement part, you asked about another breather hose on longest hose.

I assumed you meant the smaller hose on the longest side of that hose, which is not shown in the photo prior to removal. That small hose [the end with the metal spring clamp] goes to the left side of the intake.

If you're talking about the small hose, on the shortest part of the assembly, that goes to your PTC valve, which if that's what the most recent photo you posted shows, is broken. That PTC is a very important part of the PCV operation and a cause for the dipstick to still smoke if not cleaned during the PCV process or is damaged.

It's late and I'm too fried to find and attach a photo but take a look at the PCV diagram on the FCP Groton site [or eBay auction] to see where everything goes ~ you'll see the PTC and where that hose goes.

EDIT 9:45 ~ Oh well.............. my brain is still functioning a little (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm not where my Volvo is at the moment so I can't take a quick peak but...... I remember it running through a metal "bracket" where it turns the corner on the block. See my arrow on your picture for my recollection.

HINT: I found it easier to attach the hoses to the PTC with the air supply elbows loosened and pulled upwards.

Beach is right. The reason why you find your big hose 1/2 inch short is because you skipped the metal bracket. Remove and reinsert via the bracket and see.

Yes, if i means anything, i just want to confirm that the pic with the "THIS" word is the PTC.

Cheers.

thanks again, looks like its gunna be labor intensive, im going to tackle it next week, ill post pics too.

The shop i took it to said to get rid of the car because the labor alone would cost more than the car is worth.
it was my moms car now its mine.

just wondering what a shop would charge, and hours for this to be done.

thanks

Good Job (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Make sure all of your intercooler piping is correctly and tightly connected. It would have running issues as well though, the arrow would indicate a limp home mode due to it running rough which you didn't mention but..... I misplaced an intercooler tube hose clamp so I just used a large zip tie upon re-assembly and a few weeks ago my intercooler pipe came loose under load which threw a CEL and the arrow, indicating limp mode. I found the hose clamp, it was right where I put it ~ on top of the strut bushing, it's where it belongs now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Also, the PNP ~ Park Neutral Position switch may be faulty?

Okay, 1st ~ Yes it you have an intake pipe leak, intercooler pipe leak or vacuum line off it could make a sucking noise.

Now, the gray relay is the manifold absolute pressure sensor. It's got the correct plug on it. This mounts underside of the pull off fan shroud itself, to the right [facing] of the cooling fan relay combo.

The black spring connector with the red mark goes to the vacuum control purge vent valve [make sure both vacuum hoses on that valve too]. This is located on a bracket under the cold air inlet ~ to the right [facing] of the pull off fan shroud.

The other ~ I don't know.
