did they remove the codes? COMPLETELY?
Ask to see the old PNP-switch, and i rebuild the PNP's now and they work just as good as new at a third of the price, as far as that bill... mabey a little much. Make them show proof of the work, thats a start.

Well if your vehicle is still doing EXACTLY the same thing after being repaired - then yes, you have been ripped off.

Did the repairers give your vehicle a decent road test to establish if the fault had been rectified before handing it back to you?

What does it say on the invoice?

I had A/C work done on my vehicle that turned out to be crap and got charged big $$$. Initially, they were not interested in doing anything about it or reducing their charge. However I didn't take 'no' as a reasonable answer and eventually they refunded about 95% of what they had charged me.

Do you have motoring organisations or associations in the U.S.A. that tries to keep rogue traders out of the system? If you do, then approach them, state your case and see what they recommend.

When all else fails and, if you feel you have a good enough case and can prove it - then start talking legal action. This might provide some incentive for this garage to do something about your problem.

Good luck!

I am taking the car back to the mechanic on Monday to get more details.
The car is working fine now, I think because there was a plug switch in the back seat of the car that was unplugged, I think it was the sport economy switch, he replaced that too and left it unplugged, I plugged it back in, no more problems. I was overcharged for sure. I think he didn't know what the problem was and replaced the pnp and the sport economy switch.

in the meantime I bought a beauty yesterday.
4,700 dollars, 78,000 miles 1996 Volvo 850 Platinum Limited Edition Turbo 4dr wagon, in perfect condition. Love it! Beautiful color and the interior is gorgeous! Runs like new, I think it may even run better than my 97 850 R
