You can adjust both the passenger and drivers hood latch for easier release. Requires I believe a 10mm wrench. I went to a salvage yard and picked up a pair of rubber hood bumpers from an 850. Hood now opens every time, this is the route I suggest because it is very simple.

Not sure on a part#, but if you call your local dealer and ask them I am sure they would have a set. Approximately 1 inch square by 1\2" depth, black rubber, one for each side. I put one by each hood latch, not sure why my car didn't have them in the first place. They came off an older 850, but they were used on different Volvo models. These are available in 2 different heights I believe.

I should have asked since your sig says uk. I know the windows can be adjusted, so why not the top itself. I hear mention of micro switches for the top operation fairly frequent, perhaps one of those is the culprit. Either way hope it gets sorted out.
