Hey folks.

My 95 960 has not previously had any problems starting/running. I was almost out of gas and parked the car on an incline for about two days (facing uphill)...and she won't start now. I added about 3 gallons of gas and pushed her onto level ground, but still no luck.

I'm wondering if there's a bleed or prime that can be accomplished to get gas up front, if that's really the problem. In the meantime, I checked all of the fuses in the fuel and ignition system, all is good there, but that's about the extent of my expertise on this car.

Thanks much,

cc

doubt it needs bleeding. If its air, cranking should push any air right out of the injectors with the fuel right behind. Your fuel pump is not running, I think. the pump should not need primed because it is submerged in fuel. It could be burnt up from running with no fuel in it but I doubt it. Probably a fuse or fuel cut-off switch or somthing. First determine if the pump is running by turning on the key and listen for as hum from the tank. I'm no expert but thats the route I would go.

Yes, cyrus is correct it is not air in the system.

Most likely the fuel pump died from getting overheated. Another source to check first would be the relay. Not sure how running out of fuel would affect that but it much cheaper than a fuel pump.

yup, definitely fuel pump...at least that's what my mechanic thinks right now - relay tests good he says. it's always nervewracking to live 50+ miles from the nearest volvo mechanic. I just have to trust a local guy's mechanical ability along with his ability to read and research.

Not having the tools, knowledge, experience or time is tough 'round here.

Thanks folks,
