I recently had major service done at dealer, 105K miles. Timing belt replaced as well as front rotors and pads. Soon after I noticed a grinding or groaning noise coming from front end when braking the car just before coming to a full stop. I returned to dealer to have them check it out. They said they could not hear it and that it might be that the rotors just need time to seat. Is this just new rotors or could it be something more sinister? It doesn't sound good!

when was the suspension done? look at your rotors, are they scratched, or scarred? if so, then it's your brakes. good luck and keep us posted as to your findings since this might also be handy to another member.

I returned to dealership and had tech drive with me. He said it sounded like the brakes were “dragging”. They kept the car and later called me to say they suspect the problem is a batch of bad grease used at the time of the brake job. They said they cleaned off the pads and reapplied new lubricant (what ever that means). I got the car back and the next day the same sound and grinding were still there. So, back again (4th time) to the dealer. They finally decided to replace the new pads. I’ve been driving now for two days and all now sounds and feels fine. Too bad it took so long to get it right.

Had a similar brake job experience with an Acura dealer. Multiple trips for the same issue, I attribute it to poor workmanship on the mechanics part. The audacity of the service manager to give you the excuse " it was a bad batch of grease" and keep a straight face while saying it makes me smile or did he/she say this over the phone?
