Hi all,

I'm in need of the a Volvo 240 Counter hold Tool in order to change my timing belt. FCP Groton doesn't have them in stock and I really can't afford the shipping to Canada from IPD. Is there anywhere else I can find one???

Cheers,
Matt

Hi Matt

I may be on the wrong track here. I have not struck the term Counter before, but I imagine you are referring to the main crankshaft nut which holds the front pulleys on.

These pulleys have to be removed to allow the removal of the timing belt.

The simplest way to remove the nut without damaging anything is to jam the No. 1 piston. You can do this by pushing a length of soft rope into the cylinder chamber after moving the piston about 10 degrees past TDC. Then using the correct size socket, remove the nut.

It has worked for me.

Please ignore my post if I am not on the right track.

Regards
