Wondering if any of you can help with my dilemma?

I would be most grateful for any advice you could give on this matter of deep concern to me, as I am now in two minds about what to do.

It was whilst I crouched behind my 240 that I noticed rust around my rear wheel arch.

Do you think I should take it into a body repair shop or should I buy some stuff from Halfords and try to repair it myself thats the question???

Cheers Stu :-)

Sorry. I choose these words with a certain amount of compassion for you Stu, but this is a motor vehicle forum concerning Volvo's and transport generally. Your personal issues are beyond the peripheral scope of this forum. Nobody here should buy into these types of issues.

Hopefully, the personal issues can be solved-we all hope that for you Stu, and further more, the issues with the car, well, that's what we're here for. :right:

Sounds like you have a wonderful wife. A little moody maybe but aren't they all. Now about your problem. Is it a small spot of rust on the surface or does it seem deeper. If it is just surface I would take care of it myself. If it goes deeper then definitely the body shop. Oh, and by the way tell Snookum's . . . er, I mean your wife I said hello.

unless snookie-pie's, she loves when i call her that  , "friend" owns a 240 estate also, in which case, a saw-zall and ten minutes is all you need for a replacement rear quarter. and hey, the saw-zall works on flesh and bone, be creative

Try it yourself. Since your wife might be leaving you soon, you'll have plenty of time to work on it

Don't know why it was deleted. There wasn't anything offensive...unless one's wife is cheating

I just assume that Auckland thought he was being serious or in bad taste. Erring on the side of caution and deleting was OK. I myself thought it was funny and enjoyed reading it. It sure makes my and the Greeksters following posts seem a little off however.

My fault, wasn't paying attention to who edited it.

Auckland, what was offensive?

:cat: Good morning S60 R.

You posted your reply before I edited it. You could not have made the remarks otherwise.

The post was not offensive-but it did question marital fidelity. We only heard one side of the story. Asking for advice on such issues-I considered this forum to be the wrong avenue to discuss such things. Indeed, it could have been true-or it could have been in jest-as has already been suggested.

Too much thought went into the story for it to be in jest-in my opinion. That's why I edited it.

Cheers :right:

1- This is the off-topic forum, appropriate here.
2- How does marital infidelity consistute a violation of the forum rules?
3- Should we start editing posts with humor?
4- If we do, we better go back and delete alot of topics here.
And 5- If there's a problem with the content of the post, you better not look at his avatar!!

i agree with s60r. heck, if you were to edit for off humor, all of mine would be edited. i don't think it was a real post. i had seen something like this as the basis for a joke, published in a magazine. it's the same with the printed joke about wife running off with the mans dog, truck, boat and motorcycle. and he posts a reward for everything but the wife. maybe my post, and not so much on jks2's post, was a little on the "off" side, but hey, i am a little "off" also. and for R's suggestion of avatar picture, remember xpiece's avatar? different situtation, but similar in the fact that it might offend others. i think we run a fine line, here in the forum and in our daily lives, as to what constitutes "off" humor. i think if it causes the majority of the people to stand up and complain, it bears further, in depth consideration. remember jks2 had a monkee with a shotgun, mine was the smiley face made while burning rubber on my 'busa, etc. etc. when "should" we stop people from posting semi-humorous/offensive material? volvospeed has posted several "off color" cartoon images from some web-hosting service. should we leave that because it was a cartoon? i don't envy auckies  job, if i had to deal with me, i would be an alcoholic.

:cat: Good evening Gentlemen.

My Summa Contra Mundi.

The topic was asking for advice. How many members are experts with marital problems? To take an intelligent perspective, we should ask the wife for her perspectives too.

I think there are limits to what can be considered off-topic and still be inside the margins for acceptable off-topic subjects. I don't share the idea that because something is posted in the off-topic forum-it automatically is immunised against any strictures of conformity.

The humour aspect was not present when I reviewed the topic.

"How does marital infidelity consistute a violation of the forum rules". I'm not sure that marital infidelity [constitutes] a violation of the forum rules-my only concern is whether or not it will become compulsory!

As for the remarks about Volvospeed and his cartons-there is nothing subjective or taking a personal perspective about any issues concerning his cartoons. We are not considering his cartoons and his wife bilaterally.

Cheers :right:

He wasn't asking marital advice. He was asking advice about rust, humor or not. Again, this is the off-topic forum. Actually technically you are right, it should be in the General Volvo Forum, not the Off-Topic. But I never meant to imply that a post here was immune to the forum rules. However, the post did not violate any forum rules.

In any event, you can't be serious about this...
""The topic was asking for advice. How many members are experts with marital problems? To take an intelligent perspective, we should ask the wife for her perspectives too""

Why are we suddenly turning into the PC police? Should we delete this....
http://www.volvo-forums.com/t14153-nws-the...-world-ever.htm

In the interest of a discussion, what now? Allow outright humor, and edit tongue-in-check humor. How is one topic OK, the other not OK, but you don't have an issue with sexually suggestive cartoon poses, or the links being posted to naked cartoons? If you have an issue with this post, I would think his avatar is more of an issue.

I dont believe that just because we are mods we should arbitrarily (sp?) edit posts because we have a personal issue with an aspect or ideal of it.

Back to you :) .....

good one R. forgot all about that one. oh, and i forgot. being that we are all adults here, well some of us anyway :bwekk: , we are just basically editing ourselves. it's not like we have any little kids running rampant around here. so we are editing off humour posts from adults. and to the fidelity of "nut"'s spouse, like auk posted, who among us is qualified for this? my wife would just use me as a practice dummy if she caught me doing crap like that. and, on her part, she knows my friends and myself when it comes to her and "indiscretions" (if there are any).

:cat: Sorry about this. My writing reflects the way it read and the way it could be understood.

The various stories in the hyper-link are obviously stories and have no inter or intraspective aspect.

I wonder if you actually have just told me that you want to become personal or marriage counsellors?

Hmmm :right:
