This post is to help out anyone thinking about installing the aftermarket USA-Spec PA11-Vol iPod interface adapter.

I found this file that explains in detail how to install the adapter in a S60. I followed the instructions and had no problems. However, the adapter is NOT compatible with the iPhone 3G. The music still plays, but it will not charge the phone. Do not fear, there is a solution. At the end of September there is a charge converter coming out that solves this problem. Also, If you have the 3G, make sure the switches are set to DIRECT mode, not HYBRID. The adapter works great overall.

This attached file shows a pretty cheesy dock. I used an adjustable cell phone mount with a vent clip.

Hopefully this helps.

I don't know who made this pdf, but thanks... :liebe011:

Cool dock - whats it called? I've been holding my ipod touch between the 2 center vents with velcro  i'd love to have a mount like that. It also looks like you ran your cable right through the same place I did with my USA Spec adapter.

Another question, do you get any static with your adapter? I think my positive power connection may be a little less than perfect.

The only time I can hear static is if there isn't any music playing and I turn the volume on the head unit to max. Other than that, there isn't any noticeable static. I used the HU's power and a screw behind the A/C control panel for a ground. If you used the lighter as a power source, that would be the problem. I wouldn't even use the lighter's ground.
