I just bought a 2005 XC90 with 39K miles and it is great, but what is up with the stereo. I have XM is all my cars and Ipod adapters as well, and there is not away to install or upgrade the XC90 system...YOUR KIDDING!!! I do not want and FM Modulator...YUCK!

What!!! This is a bad dream. I see there are a few adapters out there that tie into the fiber system, but they are NOT cheap.

Can anyone tell me the option of taking the head unit or what ever is needed out of a new version of the XC90 and installing it since in 2007 they had the option of plugging in other devices. I really want ipod and xm. Has anyone done this? and is it even an option. As I understand it the system is modular.

SOMEONE PLEASE HELP>>>>> :haha:

bro, don't know what to tell you. the 08 that my brother and brother in law have, both have the ipod connection, but their trade in xc90's, a '01 and an '02, both didn't have it. they used the fm transmitters. sorry, don't know what to tell you. best thing is go to a "good" stereo shop and ask them what can be done. they would have the best knowledge of the newest tech for this situation. good luck and post your finds since there are probably others on this forum with the same problem.

You already know that you need a fiber optic adapter, now you just have to decide if you want to pay the asking price for one.

Check for vehicle compatibility first before you put too much effort into your search. This is just one of many Dension links. Check with the s40 and v50 crowd since you guys are in the same boat. A few members here have posted success with it, and Swedespeed has had a few members that seem to like the adapter. Approximate prices posted have been around 500 US.
