Hey guys, new to the site, hopefully you can help.
I've recently got a 1984 850 T5, its in the garage at the moment having the ABS fixed and i thought it would be a good chance to install a larger turbo and an R5 computer.
Does anyone know if this will put a lot of extra strain on my automatic transmission, or any other problems that may arrise.
Any feedback would be much appeciated.
Cheers
Seth

welcome and congrats on your 850. get the injectors for the r ecu, otherwise you won't get the fuel you'll need with the bigger turbo. you'll run lean. if poss, get the ecu for the tranny from the R that your new ecu came from. the tranny is the same, i just think the shift points are different. good luck.

Hey Seth,

Since you just bought the car, you may want to get yourself used to the car first. Spend a month or two on the car, to get everything back to Stage 0, before you start modding.

Afterwards, and at least, you'll know the BASE condition of the car was great. ANd you wont have to deal with small-time, silly issues of power-loss etc.

By the way, Greek's suggestion is good.

Cheers.

Had a few small oil leaks taken care of and the turbo cleaned out and vacuum hoses replaced and now shes flying, no need for the mods until i could do with a little more excitement. Just after that got done my ignition swith went, now ripped arart and starting car with screwdriver

Cheers

I don't know how a bigger turbo would go on a 1984 850T5 - as a matter of fact I didn't know the 850's were produced back then.

Yeah sorry thats a typo its a 94.
My friend has told me that they have installed the R5 computer.
I realised the other day that when you dump your foot on the go pedal at speed she doesn't accelerate properly, its ok when when you gradually put your foot down.
Could this be because of the new computer, maybe i need to boost the turbo or put the bigger one in.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Greek has the idea. Did you remap the ECU after the new bigger turbo? If not, then it explains.
