Hi guys I'm new and have become a member due due the wifes car..a 94 850 turbo

My name is Kenny I work at a Ford dealership as a electrical, driveabuilty tech

So she calls me today to tell me that the car broke no explanation just that it broke. I picked her up test drove it seemed ok less the flashing upshift light and check engine light. i pulled these transmission codes 114 313 I've read on some other forums that these could be caused by the park neutral switch and another post said winter switch and p/n switch. If you have any ideas, experiences, or redicule i'll take um

thanks Kenny

yes to all. could be all of them. the easiest, is check to see if the sport button is pressed. next, check the pnp switch. easy test, row the shifter back and forth, real quick like 20 times. then clear the code and see if it comes back. if it comes back, needs a switch if it goes away, still needs a switch, but you bought some time.

Ah... the FAMOUS PNP problem. But its not a STICKY-issue.
Meaning once you settle it, it should be fine.

:)

And as a Tech, i think you'll prolly like the chance of playing around with it. Sometimes, i needs just a cleaning up, sometimes a re-adjustment.
But on experience, i have helped to replace that on a friend's car, with a USED unit, and it is STILL okay till now...

Cheers.

yup.

my 850 auto tranny wagon did some of the same thing once. like greek/bear said, i put the ignition in position II, engine off, parking brake applied, press the shifter button and row the stick back&forth 15~20 times. reset the codes and restart the car. my problem has been gone for 3~4 months now. next time it happens i will likely replace the PNP switch. its not a big deal (or so i have read) if you are handy with a wrench.

good luck!

I'd be applying the multi zip up and back method again. It worked once for you and would probably work a second time also and, besides, it would be much cheaper than replacing the PNP switch, especially if you don't have too.
