OK, i've been meaning to do this for a while now and been puting it off until now.

I have a nokia ck-7w carkit to install and also a cable to put it through the stereo but need advice on a couple of things.

I've not had to go behind the dashboard yet and I know not to disconnect the ECC panel in any way.
To fit the interface cable I just need to unplug the cables from the stereo and plug them into the interface cable then plug the interface cables into the stereo - this cable also gives me the power cable for the car kit.
But can you get to the plugs at the back of the stereo from the glovebox or the like without releasing or removing the stereo from the dash.

Now do you think I will have to disconnect the battery for this or should it be OK.
If I do I have read somewhere that the key should be in the ignition at position 2 when I reconnect the battery - why is this?

I suppose I just need a bit of reassurance from someone that has replaced thier stereo or done a similar job before - and to find out if there's anything I should avoid doing.

After all this fuss it'll probably only take 15 minutes but any help is appreciated.
