B230F-top dead centre No#1, dizzy at No#1 slightly advanced,, red dots on cam sprocket and cover lined up-cam at natural stop point. Motor won't fire. Seems to have compression and spark-I may have flooded it-I'll leave it til tomorrow, charge the battery, and see if it'll fire.

Have I timed it properly is all I want to know for now?

BTW, I have a new radiator, with the electric fan thermal switch hole. There is an O ring and a plug, and a long black plastic tie-how do I fit the bung, since the tie won't allow fitting the bung (no tie holes, just 2 rear notches, wrap around doesn't fit either.) from inside the radiator and pulling thru'? I doubt it'll hold other way round. I don't plan on using the switch, as I'm told it's only aval. OEM== $$. The original rad didn't have this stuff. It's been a weeks' work to get to here, working between the the rains, and pains in my body. Now I'm tired & broke, & it doesn't want to go.---yet.

It's important for #1 piston to be at TDC on the compression stroke. Make sure it's compression.

What radiator do you have. Nissen?

Thanks for the pics. RE-crank mark-is that TDC? I obviously had that wrong, as when I assembled it the notch was vertical. Fortunately, It's not a big fix.--detension belts, remove front pulley. BTW My front crank pulley has no timing pin, it May have fallen out, but it sure ain't there-matters only if you're checking sparks I guess..... If cam markers are correct, It will have to be right there, but I think my crank is advanced somewhat. Anyone with a pic or a crank to check if timing keyway is at TDC No#1-they usually are, but maybe......

Got it right & to run briefly, with just cam belt on & no water, (very quiet!) but after re-assembling the other belts it won't start-suspect flat battery, OR (worst case) a modifying wire from AMM to the EMU was too close to the HT lead from the coil, & something is well fried. Cam belt ran with overhang on front of sprockets- very disturbing. New belt too. Odd warning lamp pattern on startup-something isn't right no oil lamp, alt works, p brake on, buzzer, but no seat belt light. That's all. Has been sitting for abt 1 mth. Someone was in car last night, I hope they weren't malicious. Perhaps water leak in car, as carpet damp next to "clutch" area [RHD] & I disturbed the water gallery pipe along the motor. I haven't replaced the hoses, just yet, & I'll hold back the coolant until I'm sure there's no leaks. I did fit a good used aircon pump (R134A), but haven't spun it yet. Battery on charge for a few hours, then I'll try again. Bung installed: smaller end inwards, largest end outwards, (smallest- shank) central in O ring. I hope it doesn't pop out. Could have reversed it IFF I could grip it and pull it into place from inside the radiator. No holes for pull string, too big for cable tie (supplied) around back & Pull. Radiator made in Oz I believe, can't remember to be sure, did have Volvo looking numbers on it tho', rather than Nissan. [VO prefix].

She's fixed! That leaves the motor mounts, the aircon recharge, the gearbox and the back axle to be sorted. Thanks to all contributors. Very quiet now-much better.
