I just got my second Volvo....my very first car back in 1971 was a 122S. This one is a beauty. I tried changing the fuel filter today, and undid the 3 bolts which hold the bracket that the filter and pump are mounted on. As soon as I pulled the last bolt the whole assembly was hanging by the gas line, so I put the bolts back in immediately. What is the proper procedure for changing this filter?

Thanks

Remove the bolt closest to the rear and driveshaft. The last bolt, only loosen so it hangs down at an angle but does not rely on the fuel lines to stay up. It keeps your workspace tight, but relieves the stress on the fuel lines.

Also, make sure you have new replacement copper washers before you take off the old one.

Good Luck.

Copper washers...............

Now I know why my fuel filter leaked for YEARS after changing the filter. Doesn't leak anymore, probably because all the gooey gas that has been sitting in the car for the last 3 years plugged the leak.

Think now may be a good time to change my filter too....................

Wonder if it will fix my idleing problem
