I have a 98 S70 with 167k on it. I am getting a smell in the car of oil.
We pulled the cover off of the engine (covering the spark plug wires / Volvo 2.0 name plate), and found oil collecting. It would appear to be coming from the hose (breather system?) near the canter of the head. I also noticed that the dip stick is being blown out of the tube occasionaly.
Do I have a problem with the PCV/breather system, or is this a major engine issue such as ring failure?
Please advise on parts needed to fix/cost of procedure.
I appreciate your help.

Funny, I just dropped my v70xc at the dealer this morning, he called and said the breahter box is clogged, needs replacing.
He said if left alone, complications can result, like worn oil seals, oil leaking from the filler cap and also from the dipstick.

Quoted a $750 price for this fix!

I am wondering if I can do this myself.
