My labor guide lists 2.3 hours for a non-turbo, and 2.8 for a turbo.

It's quite hot there. Especially the engine block. They may have taken the extra time to make sure it cools down sufficiently, i dont know.

4 hours for just the gasket is too long. You do have to remove the throttle body, some vac components, and unhook the fuel rail, but it isn't particularly time consuming. However, if they were cleaning out the oil trap, etc, perhaps it could take that long.

They probably charged for diagnostic time in addition to the actual repair time.

I actually called an independent Volvo workshop, and the old-bugger asked for TWO fringgin' days for the work! But the Labour charge would be fixed, irregardless of the time taken to complete the job.

Hmmm....

yep, nother case of the shop rippies. My manual says 2.8 job time, and the cleaning of the oil trap is manditory, like timing belts to water pumps. Not an add on time. Man that stinks. But what could you do?
