It's a long story but I lost my wedding ring off the top of the dash of my 2000 V40. I think it slipped through the small crack between windshield and dash. Is there a way to remove dash without popping the rivets that seem to hold it together? Please help!!

Would a magnet-rod work?

Anyway, moved to the V40 forum...

Only if the wedding ring is made of steel!! Gold is not magnetic.

I took the dash out of my 1997 V40 to get at the cabin air intake diverter but not as far as to get at the air vents.

If it dropped through the slots on the dash that blow air onto the windscreen then I would expect it to still be on the ducting. You may have some luck with something sticky on the end of a flexible rod - blu-tac or doubled sided sticky tape. Just make sure that you don't lose that down there as well!
