My front lights are fogged pretty bad, and the side markers are toast. I need to fix to pass inspection. Anyone here have the e-code glass headlight kit from FCPgrotton?

http://www.fcpgroton.com/category-exec/cat...116/by_year/42/

Just wondering if this is worth it or if I should just do replacement. I'm not even sure if the E-code ones would pass inspection..........

Groton sells the e-codes for left hand drive..that's your only concern. For $300. they are reasonably more expensive than plastic headlamps, and keep in mind that you get the signal lamps with them. And they're glass, so they will never yellow with age.

Plus they're beauty...here's my 240 with e-codes

Clean Car. Looks great with those headlights.

Left hand drive, meaning steering wheel on left side right, or do you mean driving on the left side of the road. If the latter, then there's no way I'd buy those. I'd be blinding everyone with the low beams on...........

Thanks for the heads up

Yes, steering wheel on the left, Groton sells the correct lamps.

there is a polish that they sell through pep boys and strauss, it's a jewelers rouge. a paste that you can use to clear swirls marks and yellowing from age. it's not perfect and if you rub too hard, you'll make it worse, but in a pinch it works. and remember, unless you are under a british rule, we all drive on the left. fcp-US company, you-in the US, so therefore, all the parts will work on your car. sorry, but loopy from lack of sleep

Were the headlights difficult to replace?

Mechancally very simple. Take the battery out, and easy peasy. Keep in mind that the new bulbs use a different connector (socket) so you need to solder on a new pigtail. I elected to uncrimp the connectors from the pigtail and solder them directly on to my existing wires which are 14 guage vrs. the 18 guage pigtail. Find a pigtail with 14 guage wire and you're good.

Is it possible to order only the euro headlights, and use the US turn signals. My car is white, and I like my white/clear turn signals..................

I ordered this setup last night. For $269 that's less than buying new plastic lamps and new corner lenses and you get the whole corner light assembly.

Mine are all crusty anyway...

FCP says no mods needed. I hope that's the case because I have no soldering gear and there's a chance I may have to keep the old ones and do a swap at inspection time (not sure these will pass MA inspection, I'm going to have that done anyway before I put these in).

OK from FCP: "These lamps meet or exceed the present European lighting specification and will fit into your 240 with no modification. The sight distance on low beams are around 2.5 times that of the OEM Lamps and around 3.5 times on high beams. Factory OEM Lamps project an unfocused patch of light." Well, we'll see. Maybe they mean "no mods to the lamps" not "your 240."

I had some Hella H4 lamps on a car years ago and they make an insane amount of difference for the better.

If you buy it, please let me know if you could put US side markers on the euro main lights...................

I'm very interested in the lights, but only for the front lights, not yellow side markers..........

Well, after looking at the necessary wiring mods, I'm gonna return the e-code light setup because 1) I suck at anything electrical and 2) they won't pass MA inspection, and removing them and swapping the old ones in once a year would be more hassle than it's worth.

Dunno if the old white corner lamps would work with them, sorry.
