I had put the wheel on slightly off center after doing it correctly with the battery off, I tried again with it on.

I was putting the wheel on straight when the two pin connect came away from the air bag and I slipped it back on.

I replaced the wheel and air bag back on and started the engine, it seemed fine, the air bag light went off but the airbag light quickly came back on.

Is it easy to reset?

I have a VAG COM lead (USB KKL VAG-COM For 409.1) and 1.3.6 vol fcr, it detects the bag fine but I can't read the codes, and because I can't read it I can't reset it either.

Has anyone dealt with this or something similar?

Thank you

As long as you have not damaged the rotational contact ring by not centering it before fitting the steering wheel then the code will just need erased, unfortunatly diagnostic equipment is required for this. Are you saying that your code reader makes contact with the srs module but says there is no codes, if so first thing is to try another type of code reader as yours maybe just playing up.

The problem is your VAG-COM lead will only be doing what an OBD2 reader can do on your Volvo. OBD2 is designed around engine diagnostics/monitoring and has no control over any other of the cars equipment such as airbags, aircon etc. Not even just to reset fault lights.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a while then reconnecting it(30mins-1hr), the airbag fault light might not be a latched code.

The rotational contact ring (AIRBAG ACTUATOR HORN RING or what evers its called) was damaged, I have replace this and now the light now comes on alittle slower (a longer delay in lighting up). I am just waiting now for the 1hr bit to see if its not latched and can reset itself. Thanks for the help.
