I have a V50 D5 SE 07 model. It has an Ipod connector in the CD holder box and the manual states that when I plug this into the Ipod and select aux I should get an Ipod option but I don't, I only get 'AUX'. The ipod will play through the stereo in this mode but you can't see the playlist etc on the radio console and can't control the ipod via the stereo.
The manual also states the ipod should charge but it doesn't. The input is a 3.5mm jack and I have this connected to the bottom of the ipod via the normal ipod connector.
Any help gratefully received.

My understanding is the 3.5mm jack connector is for the iPOD output signal to the radio. Normally used for ear phones of course. This not a charging connection. All my iPODs are charged via the large multi-pin connector, not the 3.5mm jack.

All new V50's come with te Aux input which is the 3.5mm jack - this is for any source with a headphone socket, eg. Mp3 player, console etc. etc..

There is a specific option for an IPOD connection which is also in the centre console and is proper IPOD connector that yes allows control of the IPOD from the head unit and charging of the IPOD - i have this option very expensive really for what it is but does work well. The software in the head unit could be a little better but works well enough. Just hope they perhaps do update teh software one day..

Many thanks to all for your replies. I now realise that I need the specific Ipod connector in order to do what I wanted. I may just put up with having to change the Ipod manually!!
