Disconnect and remove the old hoses and replace them with good quality new ones - then bleed the hydraulic brake system thoroughly, starting at the wheel furtherest away from the bake master cylinder/reservoir, gradually working towards the wheel closest to the master cylinder/reservoir.

If the light on the A?C switch is lit up then the A/C is off however, if the recirc. light is on , then the A/C is working in the recirc. mode.

Just another peculiar Volvo quirk.

If you are referring to how to replace it, i think its quite straight-forward, but you may want to consider removing the front wheels to replace the hoses.

There is only one way that I'm aware of. If you fill a swimming pool with brake fluid, and dunk the entire car into it, then disconnect the brake lines, no air would get in.

This is why you bleed the brakes any time you open the system, because air will get in. It would be like holding a soda bottle upside down and trying to replace the cap without losing any soda. Besides, its a good idea to flush the system every couple years anyway. Now is a good time to do it.

You can't.

Beside, as rosso75 has indicated - the hydraulic brake system needs to be completely flushed out every two or three years.

This is because each time the brakes are used, the temperature of the brake fluid rises and, in the cooling down process, the brake fluid absorbs small amounts of moisture which eventually makes the brake fluid unserviceable (as moisture does not compress).

Forget the cheap-skate solution of putting a plastic bag over the hydraulic brake fluid reservoir to try and prevent atmospheric pressure pushing brake fluid out of the lines as an efficient, safe brake system such as Volvo has can be easily compromised by sloppy or cheap-skate maintenance.

Remember, brakes are the only device fitted to a vehicle which are capable of bringing to a stop two tonnes of lethal metal - especially in an emergency situation.
