Does anyone know how to fix this problem; The dimmer switch for the dash board lights is faulty but I don't know how to remove it to fix or replace it, I'm hoping I won't have to remove the dash to get at the problem.
Thank you for any help and advise you can provide.

Removing the dash top is not as bad as some say.
You'll enjoy the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Many posts and pics on that in this section.

Searc for them, and good luck.

A few that have had this problem have found that a good old fashiond slap on the top of the dashboard is a temporary fix. I used this method for about 3 months after getting the 850, untill one day, about 3 years ago, it started working and never failed again

Suppose i'm saying if you can live with it for a bit it "may" come good on its own. :haha:

Uncle Ben,

Good that you mentioned 'temporary fix'.
I've seen quite a few 850s with BROKEN dash-tops, especially at the areas above the instrument dials.

:haha:

Classic cases of "a slap too hard"...? Or "One slap too many?"

:haha:
