I overheated my 940 to the point that the head warped 0.022". The block looked very good given that the car has 140Kmi on it. After getting a re-manufactured head and installing it, the engine won't start. Occasionally, it will fire once or twice. I have checked to make sure that everything was assembled correctly (hoses, sensors and connectors). I also re-verified that the CAM belt timing. Hoses seem to be in good shape.

It seems that it simply will not produce a spark at the plugs. I checked the flywheel pickup with an ohmmeter and measured 90 Ohms. I can't imagine any other sensor failing in such a way to keep the engine from at least trying to fire. I know it's got to be either something that I've done during disassembly/assembly or a failure of a something that is heat related.

Anyone got any suggestions?

My guess is timing.

I assume you mean ignition timing.

I checked the amplifier side of the coil and noticed there weren't any pulses coming from the amp. So I check pin 2 (connection between ignition controller and amp) for ignition pulses and there also wasn't any there. I guessed that the speed sensor was bad because of its deteriorated condition and that it would be the only sensor that would cause the ignition to completely fail. Bought a new one, installed it and the car started right up and ran great. I have only one other sensor that is bad, the one for the coolant temperature gauge. Other than that, everything seems to be fine.

I provided this update with the hope that someone else would benefit from my experience.
