Just bought a 2.0ltr GLT with major dash issues.
Firstly I had no Info Centre or dash lights.
I dismantled the instrument panel, couldnt find much wrong, rebuilt it and it worked apart from lighting.
Ive managed to bridge a wire from the lighting circuit to the speedo pod and it now all illuminates too.
HOWEVER!
This morning the whole thing has given up, even rev counter, all plugs are secure etc, i only get warning lights etc for SRS and ABS etc.
Not sure where to turn now, would an instrument panel from a different 440 work in mine? for example one without info centre?

A non info center dash would be a pig to fit and there are god knows howmany diffrent varients of info center dashes araound.

Remove your current dash and take it apart again and clean all the connectors! also remobe the big pcb from the back and look for any "dry soilder" joints, these dashboards are renounded for there piss poor build quality, the electrics are just dire in the 400 series!

Thanks for the reply, had the cluster to bits again, there is a plug attatching the speedo to the PCB , a blue one, that was wobbling in its pins, loose solder, everything else looks not too bad, I know of a 440 same as mine in a breakers so going to check out its dash too, bit scary driving a petrol supping car while guessing when its going to stop!!

The usual suspect when 400 series dashboards play up, resoilder it on and the dash will behave! just be sure to remove as much of the old soilder as possible!

The dash in the brakers is likely to have exactly the same fault, these dashboards where made of cheese, some of the worst quality soildering i have ever seen! i think a kid at school could of done a better job!

Just fitted the instrument cluster from a 440 turbo into mine (440 2.o ltr GLT ) same plugs and electronic instead of speedo cable, all working ok now except the fuel gauge which did briefly make an appearance and then stopped, although the orange light does come on (every now and then), seems like a fuel gauge is common failure, how come noone has sussed it out yet?
Does anyone know the ins and outs of removing the alarm/immobiliser? Mine seems to have been by-passed causing all kinds of silly problems ( no dash lights, no fuel gauge, no central locking, no clock and no ionterior lighting, everything excep locking works with ignition on, when its off though everything is off completely! Even have to reprogram the radio again.
Is it just a waste of time trying to fix this beast?

Turbo info center IS DIFFRENT to a 2.0 one, the pcbs are incompatible! you MUST fit a 2.0 infocenter for it to work!

The Turbo clocks fit very well actually, they are the ones with the needles for temp and petrol, however still got an intermittent fuel gauge, everything else operates the same as my 2.0 Glt, even down to the doors open light, just not petrol gauge.
The clusters have identical wiring harness, its just the PCB's that differ however the wiring harness still provides the info to the correct instrumentation, I have done away with the info centre now, too unreliable for my taste. Good old needles!
Still stuck with wipers problem and need to look at the wiring again for a permanent live as its just not there!
