its a 91 940 turbo.

Oddometer and speedo stopped dead. Other gauges are oK

Getting a reading in mV to the plug on the back of the instrument panel from the speed sensor. About 30mV at idle in first (on axle stands) rises with revs.

So something is coming from the sensor.

Have taken the speedo out, all looks ok inc teeth.

As neither the odd ot speedo is working I am figuring it is a supply or signal problem??

I want to fix this myself as the car has only done 84k it would be a shame to start changing clocks etc.

Are you sure its not a blown fuse or lose connection?? check to see if what else is on the fuse works. start with the easy things. Did you rewire change anything electrical recently?

Nothing had been changed on the car, it just stopped working one day.

I cannot see any blown fuses unless there is a hidden one.

Appears to be 12v on the blue/red wire marked IGN which is part of the plug that also has the sensor signal.

The effect though is as if no power is there as no movement what so ever from the speedo or oddometer.

All other gauges are working bar these.

Checked for any bad joints and touched up the solder on the speedo itself and the instrument panel rear.

Exact same problem with my May 92 940SE and it was traced to a dirty sensor unit at the rear diff which eventually required replacing, the sensor not diff I hastely add.

Hi and thanks for replying. Did you do any of the tests above? Although I cannot be sure the sensor is outputting the correct signal it does appear to have an output.
