I have a 1993 Volvo 850 GLT. The battery drains after a few days of not driving. I put an amp meter in line with the negative battery cable and it showed 79mA. I started pulling fuses and when I pulled #7 (Radio/Amp) the draw dropped to 27mA. I continued pulling and when I pulled #15 (Radio, Courtesy Lamps, Door Warning, etc), the amperage dropped to 9mA. All other fuses had no real affect on the draw.
It appears I have a radio issue and I will leave #5 pulled until I figure it out. #15 has more safety options with it, so I will leave it in for now.
My question to the board is, "What can I expect the standard draw on a sitting battery to be?" Is 9 mA acceptable? 27mA?
Thanks for your assitance-

I am not sure about the static draw.

But i do know that a perfectly fully charged battery is supposed to hold a pole voltage charge of 12.72 Volts, at an ambient temperature of 25 degrees Celsius or 77 degrees Fahrenheit. And normally, if the charge is less than 8V, (specifically 7.2V) the starting would be very difficult.

Lemme check further on the static draw.

you found the answer to your draw issue, mabe not in detail, but on the nail. Seems some 850's have issues with the radio related wireing. My wireing didnt kill the battery, but slowly killed speakers, headunits and plugged items. Power surges, snaps, and wiered pulses. I have to do a stand alone wire system for the radio. Look in the Hanes manual at the circut list. even the speakers have a circut link in the list. Do you have the stock radio in or a aftermarket one? Do you hear short activity in the audio? (snaping, humming, hissing)
oh and if you dont mind me asking, how did you find this forum?

Normally or otherwise - if the voltage between battery poles is anywhere near as low as 8 volts, starting will be a slight tad more than difficult, it will actually be quite impossible.

Based on some of the calculation in VADIS, the maximum permitted standby current should be around 32.2mA

The formula is as follows:

*Ah / 504 h / 4 = I mA

where
* = Battery capacity
I = Standby current
