Hello,

I'm the owner of a 2005 T. Grey S60 R (25,000mi) on the clock.

Wondering what a good muffler for this vehicle is? Stock sounds good but I'm looking for a meaner low rumble, Not ricey but nice. I don't wanna go with a pre-fab setup since they seem to be about $400+s/h more then a shop would cost (around here anyway) for a custom set-up with tips and I have friends who work at shops that can give me discounts also.

I've seen an air-intake set-up also for this car for $300+ which looks to me to be no more then a simple bent PVC tube, $25 air filter and maybe a "heat shield" all simple things I can buy around locally for maybe $40. Anyone make their own air intake kits?

Other then those simple things I've seen turbo down pipes for $1,095 (I'm gonna get one) does anyone else have a down pipe? Also seen chips/programmers.

Any suggestions? I've got about $7,000 left in insurance money to spend on performance and stereo, not that I'm gonna spend the WHOLE amount :P

Thanks.
James.

I used Evolve for the exhust, and love it. THey have a loud and quieter version. I have the louder version and the downpipe, and it's pretty loud. EST, IPD, Heico, TME, and Ferreta (sp?) all have exhaust stuff. I would use Evolve again though.

I just got the RICA PPC tune from Viva Performance. That is def worth the money!

As for CAI, for some reason there arent any good ones for an R. I made the RKelly kit with parts from Pegasus Racing. Here's a link...

Thanks for the reply.

Anyone else wanna tune in?

Will I need to disconnect the battery after doing the RKELLY mod? I'm sorry this is my first Volvo (I've only owned Ford and Benz before hand) and when I added a CAI to my fords I always had to disconnect the battery for 10mins then reconnect so the computer could re-learn.

Is changing the Oil hard on these Volvo's? I've only ever changed Oil on my fords (So easy a caveman could do it) cause all my Benz before hand have been under warranty.

Thanks alot guys.

Check the ECU upgrade, it'll def. be worth it. Check RICA, IPD, etc. RICA, IPD and UPSolute seem to be the three trusted names around here.

As far as air intake, you might also want to check into IPD's fog-light intake kit, ipdusa.com, click s60, and performance parts, and you should see a simple diy kit. This is something you could probably fab yourself too, but with $7k why waste the time?

If you're looking for more than just more power, replace the anti-sways (I did and loved it), again check ipdusa.com for the bars. ~$670 with the endlinks (must have w/ the new sways).

Seeing as you are new to Volvo definitely cruise ipdusa.com, and evolve's web page. They will fill that emptiness you have for tune tune tune.

Oh yeah, and as hard as oil changes: it is as hard as changing oil can be, in my opinion. It's nothing too big but is a small hassle. YOu'll have to get under the car, remove the skid plate, drain the oil just like any car. What can be kind of annoying is you have to remove the oil filter housing also underneath the vehicle (I recommend buying the ipdusa wrench it's well worth the money). Besides that pretty simple.
