Hey to all! I am just a new member requiring some assistance:

My 1,5 years old Volvo S40 did this twice, shortly after starting it and moving it for a couple of miles. It displayed the message "Brake Failure Stop Car Safely", "Antiskid system failure", "Reduced Engine Performance". The car could not go more than 15 mph. After parking it, I could not restart the engine and the messages kept repating in random order.

The first time that I took it to the dealer they said that they changed the computer message module (the mechanic carried a box with many plugs in it, just to show me what it looked like).

But after 400 miles, the problem re-appeared. Now the car will go back to the dealer, but I believe that they have no clue on what to do.

Any similar experiences? Any solutions?

Use one leg to drive the car only. Nevr press brak and acceleratin pedals together.

does it make a rattling sound when you start up underneath your car or when you accelerate?
if so it could be your catalytic converter.....

I can't imagine me pressing both pedals together. Even so, it is strange that something like this can make the car to freeze. My Volvo has manual transmission, so only one foot is used for gas and brake anyways.

But, since we have tried almost everything with the car, I guess it does not hurt to try this also.

The day that the car broke down, when I was trying to start it, sometimes I could hear a clicking noise like a relay, doing one or two clicks.

Before that, I have never noticed something while accelerating.

I will pass your suggestion to the technicians tomorrow, as they still have no clue on what is wrong with it, and have not fixed it yet. The car is with the dealer for more than two weeks now!
