hello everybody, I have 2000 volvo v70 xc and Im having problems starting it. 2 weeks ago it started ok then I stopped to get coffee it didn't start. I then waited 15 minutes and the car started again. From then on the problems continued on and off, certain days it would work fine, other days it did not want to start at all. I have no idea where the problem is and why it is so sporadic as opposed to just a consistent failure to start.volvo dealer recommend me to change the b+ battery cable will that be causing the problem???
any help will appericate it.

Does it turn over?, Does it try to fire up? Also, when it wont start, if you turn the ignition so all dash lights come on and wait a couple of seconds do you hear a relay 'tick' from within the dashboard?

I had this problem just the other day with a 99 XC70. I turned it off, hung out for an hour, maybe 90 minutes.
Then it was time to go. Back in the car. The car cranked and cranked, sounded like it wanted to start, but then didn't.

The next morning, no problems. Since then, no problems.

it does have a "diesel" effect sometimes when turning the car off.
And it hesitates on starting out, sometimes. give it gas and it just sits for a moment... before accelerating.

Did you replace the battery cable? My S60 has random no starts as well. When my car fails to start there is no clicking. The starter just appears to not be getting power to even attempt to start the engine. The radio, etc. all comes on though, so I'm getting some battery power.
