Can someone please tell me what the part, circled in the photo, is, and what it does please? Volvo 240 GL

It is connected to the throttle assembly via a cable, but this cable does not seem to have any real movement effect on the part. Is that normal?

Seems like a cruise control then. Some models had it. Don't have setting info, sorry. Not that there's too many places in Tassy you can set & forget a while. Born RHH, now WA. WARMER!!!!

Thanks. That would make sense, and you are definitely right, no use for cruise control down here, especially in the west coast area.
