my 960 had a gas leak in the front end of the fuel rail. Check your engines system fuel system closely.

the smell is less while i am driving, the windows are open, but i can still faintly smell the gas. i was reading some of the other blogs, i found this, could it be this?Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (Volvo) has decided that a defect related to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model year 1994-1997 Volvo 850 vehicles.

In certain cases, after prolonged exposure to extreme heat, the fuel tank may develop seepage at the heat shield attachment. This is because the heat shield attachment locations may not meet certain Volvo specifications. When this occurs, a fuel odor may be present. Fuel seepage in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.

i think i might be calling the dealership to see if my car might be one of the effected

Yes, i think you should sent it in.

Also, get them to pop your fuel-pump to see if there are any traces of evaporated fuel (or still flooding!?) fuel at the neck to the fuel-pump. The black round plastic seal may be broken.

Gents

I am beginning to notice the same smell with my wagon. I checked underneath and notice where the fuel tank connects to the fuel point tube the rubber seal or band that connects the two is showing signs of wear. Will check with dealer to see if that is covered in recall.

thanx
Eon
