Seeking advice concerning leaking oil drain plug caused by over tightening drain plug. Drain hole is apparently enlarged in oil pan. Currently have plug sealed with teflon tape. Need permanent fix with out replacing oil pan.
Thanks

I'm not sure how overtightening would enlarge the hole without completely stripping the threads. Mine was in so tight I had to use an EZ-out and breaker bar to get it out and the threads were still OK. I put in a new plug and washer and it was fine. The washer is what really does the sealing. Have you tried a new aluminum washer on the plug?

You can get one here: http://www.ipdusa.com/Engine/Filters-&-Tun...p-576-578-1206/

Can you apply the proper torque to it? Mine is 26 ft lbs. (for a 2001 S80 2.9, but yours may be the same). If you can reach the proper torque level then don't worry about it...just keep using the teflon tape each time.

FYI, I always use teflon tape on my drain plug because it would always weep a little over time, even with a new gasket. No leaks with the teflon tape.

If you can't reach the proper torque then maybe install a heli-coil (repairs stripped threads). You should be able to install it without removing the pan. Any auto parts store should have them (Pep Boys, Auto Zone, etc.)

LOL.
