Hi all, new member after recently (last monday!) entering the Volvo fold!

I bought a 2005 S40 2.0D SE in Passion Red which I absolutely adore. The car has 108,000 miles on it (ex lease car) and I just had a couple of questions...

First of all, when stationary with the engine off the gear change seems to be perfect but when you're actually using it, ie, switching from reverse through neutral into first or first into second it gets really stiff, almost like its binding. Sometimes you really have to knock it out of reverse with a thunk. Has anyone come across this before or does anyone have any ideas?

My second question is, can anyone recommend a Volvo specialist or a garage they use for their Volvo in the Middlesbrough area. Failing that, in the North East, I work up in Newcastle so that shouldn't be too much of a bother either.

Finally (I Promise :))...

If Q1 is a clutch issue, how much will it cost for a replacement (fitted). I would ring and find this out myself but I can't find a garage! :)

Thanks!

Dan!

welcome to the forum and congratulations for your "new" volvo!!!

I believe you can check your issues in a volvo service center or go to any other reliable center for maintenance / repair.
